Northrop Grumman's Tactical Space Systems Division is looking for a Director (Director 1, Engineering) to stand up an Engineering Project Management organization of qualified, diverse individuals. This position requires on-site presences at the Dulles, VA campus.
As the Director for the Engineering Project Management (EPM) organization, you will report directly to the TSSD Vice President of Engineering. You will have supervisory responsibilities for a functional management leadership team responsible for over 200 control account managers (CAMs) and integrated product team (IPT) leads. You will provide organizational vision and management of engineering and supporting personnel.
The ideal candidate will have experience across different aspects of Engineering Project Management for the space domain including earned value management, project leadership, and people leadership. In addition to understanding the technical domains of Engineering, this position requires experience in functionally managing large teams of personnel and alignment with leadership and company goals.
Essential functions and responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:
• Provide technical and people leadership, strategic direction, and oversight of all major disciplines/functions within Engineering Project Management.
• Responsible for long range planning and all aspects of the Engineering Project Management functional homeroom performance, including performance management.
• Responsible for the continued critical skill/infrastructure build-up for TSSD Engineering Project Management organization with skillsets needed for the entire project life cycle.
• Provide ownership for the people, processes, and tools that support TSSD captures, program execution activities, including managing and integrating EPM recruiting, employee development, employee engagement, skills development, NCTA efforts, staffing, process and product development.
• Ensure application of sound Earned Value Management processes for new business, programs, and IRADs, as defined by Mission Class and customer contractual direction.
• Responsible for managing an annual indirect expense for labor and non-labor expenditures within assigned budget allocations.
• Ability to work well with a team and possess excellent written and oral communication skills.
Basic Qualifications:
• Bachelor's Degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering or Math (STEM) field from an accredited institution with 10 years of applicable experience OR Masters Degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Math (STEM) field from an accredited institution with 8 years of applicable experience; OR PhD in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Math (STEM) field from an accredited institution with 6 years of applicable experience.
• 10 years of engineering, project management and/or functional management experience.
• Experience with Earned Value Management.
• Experience as a CAM (Control/Cost Account Management) or leading CAM's.
• Experience in leading Engineering teams.
• Must have U.S. Citizenship with the ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance per program/business requirements.
• Must have the ability to work at the Dulles, VA campus.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Active DoD Top Secret/SCI clearance.
• Advanced degree in Engineering or another STEM field.
• Project Management Professional (PMP) certification.
• Experience leading a large functional or program organization.
• Familiarity with TSSD Engineering processes and portfolio.
• NG Earned Value Management certification.
• Experience in Space Systems.
Salary Range: $197,600 - $296,400
The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.
Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
