JOB DESCRIPTION
Apex Systems is looking for an experienced Corporate Counsel to join its legal department to provide legal advice and support to Apex and its affiliated entities, including entities in Mexico, India, Canada, the UK, and Europe. This process-oriented position requires daily interaction with employees across the company, including executives and sales staff, in a fast-paced, sales environment. Corporate Counsel will also collaborate closely with internal stakeholders across departments such as finance, human resources, IT, and marketing. Primary practice focus is on employment law. The ideal candidate must possess excellent communication and organizational skills, as well as a solutions-oriented outlook. Attention to detail is a must, as well as an ability to work confidently under pressure. Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
- Providing timely and accurate advice on a variety of legal topics including employment law, labor relations, immigration, data privacy and security, corporate and contract compliance, real estate, insurance, and risk management.
- Collaborating closely with infrastructure and business leaders to provide practical recommendations and solutions that align with business and other organizational objectives.
- Monitoring changes in the law and providing proactive guidance to minimize risk and ensure compliance.
- Managing administrative charges, government audits, and pre-litigation disputes. May also manage outside counsel in single plaintiff litigation matters.
- Assisting with the development, drafting, and implementation of company policies and procedures.
- Analyzing and preparing immigration petitions for various types of work visas both within and outside the U.S.
- Evaluating and approving non-standard contract language in vendor and client contracts.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
- Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an ABA-accredited law school and admission to a state bar.
- 3+ years of labor and employment experience in a law firm or in-house position. In-house experience with a professional services company is preferred
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain complex legal concepts to non-lawyers.
- Ability to balance legal risk and business objectives.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities, projects, and stakeholders in a fast-paced environment with short turnaround times.
- This position follows a hybrid work schedule.
