Northrop Grumman Mission Systems is seeking a Sr. Principal Environmental Health and Safety Engineer for the Sunnyvale, California manufacturing site.
Key roles and responsibilities include:
• Conducts qualitative and quantitative hazard assessments to include exposure monitoring for physical and chemical agents including ergonomics hazard assessment
• Create and update Job Hazards Analyses based on the performed hazard assessments to identify proper enhancements to engineering controls, personal protective equipment (PPE), training, and safe operating procedures
• Complete industrial and office ergonomic evaluations to reduce human risk factors that cause musculoskeletal disorders
• Conduct timely injury and near miss investigations
• Conduct timely assessments to address air quality concerns
• Review chemicals/hazardous materials to ensure safe use, storage and disposal
• Conduct internal compliance inspections to identify actions necessary to meet regulatory requirements
• Assist in continuous improvement of the culture, and improve EHS awareness throughout the site
• Interface with regulatory representatives, senior management, site personnel, and sector program managers
Additional roles and responsibilities may include:
• Provides timely and accurate submission of necessary reports to internal stakeholders, electronic databases, and regulatory agencies
• Writes and updates EHS plans and procedures
• Develop, implement, and maintain EHS programs in accordance with regulatory requirements and NG internal MS Sector's Principals and Operating Practices to ensure compliance, prevent injuries, and mitigate risks which may include occupational health programs such as hearing conservation, respiratory protection, hazard communication, and non-ionizing radiation (lasers and radiofrequency)
• May apply for new permits and renewals
• Work with cross-functional teams to develop robust safety measures for various test plans, which may require subject matter expertise in Lasers and RF
• Partners with engineering, manufacturing, facilities, and management to support the integration of EHS into the design of new or altered processes/operations and construction projects
• Coordinate EHS training for employees and conduct instructor-led EHS training
• Review and interpret existing and proposed environmental, health, and safety regulations to determine applicability and impact for sites.
Basic Qualifications for Level 4:
• Bachelor's degree and a minimum of 8 years of experience in the practice of industrial hygiene, environmental/occupational health, or EHS; or a Master of Science (MS) degree with 6 years of experience in the practice of industrial hygiene, environmental/occupational health, or EHS.
• Experience in industrial hygiene monitoring including noise and air sampling.
• Experience in laser and/or RF (radio frequency), chemical exposure, substance specific standards (OSHA regulations), ventilation.
• Experience conducting office and industrial ergonomics assessment.
• Experience using Tableau, PowerPoint, Excel, SharePoint and managing metrics.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Defense (DoD) Secret clearance.
• (U.S. Citizenship required).
Salary Range: $124,900.00 - $187,300.00The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
