Full Job Description
Entry-Level Programmer
Montgomery & Associates is looking for a self-motivated, detail-oriented Entry-Level Programmer to join our dynamic team in Tucson, Arizona. You will be responsible for writing computer code, developing and debugging applications, and troubleshooting design issues. You will work under the supervision of our Senior Programmer to support the programming needs of our offices in the United States and South America. Key programming applications at M&A include a financial and personnel resources database used by all employees in the company, and a custom online database management system (DMS) with web maps and a data applications portal accessible to clients, project teams, and the public. You will have the opportunity to interact with scientists and managers in all service areas of the company. This is an excellent opportunity for an individual who is looking to gain practical experience in programming and work with a team of professionals in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with Senior Programmer to design, build, and test functional applications to meet business needs
- Translate requests from scientists or managers into logical programming sequence and ultimately into code
- Research solutions to coding and performance issues
- Attend development meetings and perform other administrative tasks related to programming needs of the company
- Use strong communication and time management skills to complete tasks before deadline
- Apply programming principles of web technologies (html, CSS, JavaScript, and PHP), Python, Microsoft Access (VB), and SQL languages
- Perform test runs during coding stages and modify any existing or potential issues
- Document applications for reference documents
- Proficient in two or more programming languages, including html, CSS, JavaScript, PHP, Python, and SQL. Delphi experience would be beneficial.
- Strong attention to detail
- Creative problem solver with ability to work under pressure and brainstorm with colleagues
- Ability to work independently and within a team
- Excellent time management and ability to prioritize work in a deadline-driven environment
- 2 years of experience
- Prior experience in a programming-related internship or job
- Four-year degree in computer programming, web development, or related field
