Our client, a global semiconductor company that designs and manufactures analog and embedded processing chips, seeks experienced and engaging Feature Writers on an as-needed, ad-hoc basis. This is a part-time opportunity, ideal for writers seeking flexible work arrangements. The position can be hybrid in Dallas, TX, or fully remote within the United States (CST time zone preferred).

About the Role:

As a Feature Writer, you will craft compelling content around manufacturing / semiconductor industry. You will work closely with the company’s Content Lead to bring these stories to life, from initial concept to polished final product. This role offers the opportunity to contribute to thought leadership and highlight advancements in a dynamic field.

Responsibilities:

• Content Development: Produce high-quality, informative, and engaging written content (blogs, case studies, articles) focused on manufacturing. Assignments may include up to two articles per month.
• Collaboration & Communication: Work closely with the Content Lead to understand project briefs, discuss interview strategies, refine target audience understanding, and ensure alignment with key messaging, brand voice, and style guides. Proactively communicate progress and address any roadblocks.
• Interviewing: Conduct insightful interviews with subject matter experts (engineers, researchers, executives, customers) - typically ranging from one to three interviews per article - to gather compelling stories, technical details, and diverse perspectives.
• Writing & Editing: Develop first drafts that effectively capture the essence of the interviews, accurately convey technical information, and align with the project brief and any provided messaging materials. Incorporate feedback and revisions as needed to ensure the highest quality, error-free output. Adhere to established style guides and brand guidelines.
• Time Management: Effectively manage your time to complete each article within the allocated timeframe (approximately 8-12 hours per article, including all stages from brief to final draft). Meet deadlines consistently.

Qualifications:

• 5+ years of proven experience in corporate writing, with a strong portfolio showcasing case studies, articles and blog posts specifically focused on manufacturing. Samples demonstrating an understanding of complex technical concepts and the ability to explain them clearly are highly desired.
• Exceptional writing and editing skills, with a keen eye for detail, grammar, and style. Ability to craft compelling narratives that resonate with target audiences.
• Demonstrated ability to conduct effective interviews with subject matter experts, extracting key insights, technical details, and compelling stories.
• Strong collaboration and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.  
• Ability to work independently and manage time effectively, especially in a remote work environment.  

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience in the manufacturing (or related technology) industry.
• Content strategy and thought leadership experience.
• Familiarity with SEO best practices and content optimization for online platforms.
• Experience with various content formats (blogs, article, white papers, case studies, website copy).

The target hiring compensation range for this role is $50-70 / hr.  Compensation is based on several factors including, but not limited to education, relevant work experience, relevant certifications, and location.
