Job Description:
Position: Network Engineer
Location: Northridge, CA – On-Site 5 Days/Week
Employment Type: Contract
Contract Duration: 12 months with strong potential for extension/conversion.
Pay rate: $80 - 95 per hour (W2)
Overview:
Our client is seeking a skilled Network Engineer for a project replicating a critical test rack system from another site. This hands-on role supports Integration & Test (I&T) teams by designing, configuring, and troubleshooting network infrastructure in a lab environment. You’ll blend networking expertise with IT support, ensuring seamless connectivity for device communications and AWS integration. Key Responsibilities:
- Build and configure a test rack network to match the other sites system, focusing on switch setup and replication.
- Implement and troubleshoot network connectivity for systems and AWS integration.
- Configure and manage firewalls, data traffic, and security protocols.
- Perform hands-on installation and cabling of network hardware (switches, routers, modems).
- Support IT tasks, including Linux server administration, workstation setup, and basic troubleshooting.
- Collaborate with I&T teams to enable test environment configurations.
- Document network schematics, configurations, and procedures for team use.
- Identify optimization opportunities within cost and schedule constraints.
Required Qualifications:
- Proven experience configuring network devices (e.g., Juniper, Cisco, SonicWALL).
- Proficiency with network operating systems (e.g., Junos OS, Cisco IOS/NX-OS, SonicOS).
- Strong troubleshooting skills using tools like ping, packet analyzers, or similar.
- Hands-on experience with Linux system administration (file management, configuration).
- Familiarity with IP addressing, DNS (hostnames, CNAMEs), and network fundamentals (OSI model).
- Comfort with physical hardware setup and lab environments.
- Ability to work on-site 4-5 days/week (some flexibility possible).
Preferred Qualifications:
- Certifications: JNCIA-Junos, JNCIS-SP, CCNA, CCNP (JNCIE or CCIE a plus).
- Experience with communication systems, AWS networking, or test lab setups.
- Windows server administration and firewall configuration experience.
- Track record of learning new tools quickly and taking ownership of complex projects.
