About this role:

Wells Fargo is seeking a Principal Engineer who will join the Core Banking Deposits organization leading the Deposit Services applications. We are looking for a passionate technologist, who is expert in system design, data architecture, and has the experience to operate across the enterprise through understanding of available technology and tools. This role will be the design authority for the team who would ensure design and solution meets organization’s standards, needs and goals. The candidate must be able to work effectively in a rapidly changing environment and possess excellent communication skills, sound judgment and reasoning skills.


In this role, you will:

  • Act as an advisor to leadership to develop or influence applications, network, information security, database, operating systems, or web technologies for highly complex business and technical needs across multiple groups

  • Lead the strategy and resolution of highly complex and unique challenges requiring in-depth evaluation across multiple areas or the enterprise, delivering solutions that are long-term, large-scale and require vision, creativity, innovation, advanced analytical and inductive thinking

  • Translate advanced technology experience, an in-depth knowledge of the organizations tactical and strategic business objectives, the enterprise technological environment, the organization structure, and strategic technological opportunities and requirements into technical engineering solutions

  • Provide vision, direction and expertise to leadership on implementing innovative and significant business solutions

  • Maintain knowledge of industry best practices and new technologies and recommends innovations that enhance operations or provide a competitive advantage to the organization

  • Strategically engage with all levels of professionals and managers across the enterprise and serve as an expert advisor to leadership


Required Qualifications:

  • 7+ years of Engineering experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education

  • 7+ years of experience in Technology, Data Engineering field in architecting, developing, end-to-end scalable data application and data pipelines

  • 7+ years of experience with microservices architecture design and migration

  • 7+ years of experience in JAVA development

  • 5 years of experience implementing data solution by adopting, recommending, and improving CICD, change management, data security, and auding processes


Desired Qualifications:

  • Experience in Java/J2EE Web Application Development, Spring (Core, MVC, AOP, Batch, spring boot), Web Services (REST, SOAP, GraphQL etc.), JMS, Messaging, Kafka (streaming technologies), Apigee, Test automation frameworks

  • Experienced in database technologies, relational databases (Oracle, PostgreSQL) and NoSQL databases (MongoDB)

  • Deep understanding of Domain-Driven Design, Object-Oriented Design Principles and Patterns, Non-functional requirements

  • Experienced in batch processes, Ab Initio knowledge is plus

  • Experienced in Cloud Technologies (Azure/GCP)

  • Experienced in Kubernetes, Docker, OpenShift

  • Experienced in Agile, Kanban, or Lean methodology

  • Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
