Northrop Grumman Defense Systems is looking for a Director of Systems Engineering 1 for the Strategic Deterrent Systems (SDS) Division Engineering organization --with a Systems Engineering background and leadership. In this role, the selected leader will be responsible for establishing and driving common engineering processes, tools, and technical developmental and training resources in support of engineering employees and managers across the Division portfolio. This position will be located in Roy, Utah. This role may offer a competitive relocation assistance package.
What you will get to do:
• Lead and direct an experienced and technically diverse engineering team responsible for planning, organizing, developing and managing the engineering processes that govern system development and sustainment across the SDS program portfolio
• Accountable for assessment, consolidation, and development of common processes and trainings across all engineering disciplines in the Division.
• Manage engineering tools and applications and develop the necessary engineering support team to sustain and evolve capabilities.
• Coordinate with the broader Sector, Company, academia and industry to identify and leverage existing tools and practices and supplement as needed to provide applicable solutions to sustainably address Division requirements.
• Ensure horizontally integrated and consistent expectation, development, and assessment of skill competencies across the Engineering disciplines within the Division. Partner across organizations including program management, Human Resources, and Sector Engineering, to capture requirements and develop prioritized strategy to address critical skill needs.
• Define and facilitate Division technical rotation programs and SME-selection processes
• Emphasize development of processes around modern model-based methods and practices in support of a full digital engineering transformation
• Own technical review authority, process audit and process enforcement across program activities to ensure engineering integrity
• Lead the planning, budgeting staff forecasting for contract direct and indirect budgets supporting process development
• Support industry technical conferences and academic partnerships and engagements to include STEM programs, university curricula, etc. in support of Division strategy

This positions standard work schedule is a 9/80. The 9/80 schedule allows employees who work a nine-hour day Monday through Thursday to take every other Friday off. This role may offer a competitive relocation assistance package.
You'll Bring These Qualifications:
• Bachelor's Degree in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics) with at least 10 years of progressive engineering experience
• Minimum 3 years of formal leadership experience for multi-discipline engineering populations and teams
• Experienced in product development life cycle and interactions among engineering disciplines
• Experience with model-based engineering methods and tools
• Must have an active Secret clearance to be considered
• Must have the ability to obtain and maintain Special Access Program (SAP) clearance
These Qualifications Would be Nice to Have:
• Master's degree or higher in engineering or related scientific discipline
• Experience standing up an organization and/or leading a major change initiative
• Active Top Secret clearance
Salary Range: $187,700 - $281,500
The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.
Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
