Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems sector is seeking a Sr Principal Vehicle Management Systems (VMS) Integrated Product Team (IPT) Lead to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals in defining the future. This position will be located in Melbourne, FL.
Primary responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:
• Design and development of the Vehicle Management System architecture considering physical system redundancy, fault tolerance schemes, and robust control system design to inform the development of the system architecture and ensure a safe, flight critical VMS design
• Performing functional analysis and modeling, detailed trade studies, requirements allocation, and interface definition to translate customer requirements into the VMS Specification and software specifications
• Management of a diverse team of VMS engineers including establishing direction and aligning tasking with program objectives
• Management of the VMS team cost, schedule, and technical performance through Earned Value Management
• Coordination with Business & Schedule Management stakeholders to proactively manage performance against program Integrated Master Schedule (IMS)
• Engaging with both internal and external customers to ensure key capabilities, performance, and external interface requirements are met
• Defining system implementation approach and operational concept
• Executing technical planning, cost and risk management, subsystem integration, verification, and validation for highly integrated aircraft subsystems
• Fostering a culture of empowerment and diversity to retain talent and develop leaders with a strong focus on knowledge transfer

We seek candidates with strong written and verbal communication skills, the ability to work as part of a team, and the ability to organize work, manage time, plan, and prioritize. BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:
• Bachelor's Degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) field from an accredited university with 8 years of system architecture definition experience OR a Master's Degree in STEM with 6 years of system architecture definition experience OR a PhD Degree in STEM with 3 years of system architecture definition experience
• Experience with at least one of the following technical disciplines: subsystem integration and test, data bus architecture definition, system integrity analysis, VMS architecture development
• Experience with Earned Value Management
• Your ability to transfer and maintain the final adjudicated government secret clearance, and any program access(es) required for the position within a reasonable period of time, as determined by the company.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
• Previous experience with design, development, integration, and test of aircraft subsystems in the military aerospace environment
• Experience with the VMS Development Process including establishing Entry and Exit Criteria for the various phases of the product lifecycle
• Experience with model-based systems engineering (MBSE) development tools such as CAMEO
• Experience using DOORS, Jira, Confluence, and other Atlassian tools
• Prior airworthiness experience
• Experience in electronics hardware and software certification
• Integrated Hardware/Software (Subsystem/System Feature) validation experience.
Salary Range: $118,600 - $178,000
The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.
Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
