Job Description:
Lab Technician (2nd shift)
Growing food and beverage company need additional help in the lab to ensure the production of their high quality products. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Assist in the Assurance of the Quality of incoming raw materials including any ingredient material relative to the production of products provided to our customers.
2. Update and effectively communicate to all the current and changes to all raw material and production/ingredient specifications.
3. Evaluate and prioritize incoming samples for testing procedures.
4. Inspect incoming ingredient samples for contamination.
5. Perform standardized test on incoming samples.
6. Perform moisture, ash, Leco proteins, industry specific tests, and any other requested tests on products.
7. Prepare and perform experimental manufacturing characteristics.
8. Perform analysis and calibration on NIR units.
9. Provide the information to the QA Assistant, QA Manager for the analysis.
10. Assist in the Assurance of the Quality of all products shipped to our customers.
11. Perform customer requested test including Granulation, Grit, and pH.
12. Creating and faxing COA for incoming Loading Orders.
13. Provide technical assistance to all production functions related to our process.
14. Provide statistical information related to product attributes and other areas as required.
15. Empty samples from shelves and cabinets.
16. Perform preventative maintenance, cleaning, and basic repairs to lab equipment.
17. Evaluate samples for Ingredient treatments through standardized testing procedures.
18. Perform standardized baking tests to evaluate incoming experimental samples
19. Perform standardized baking tests to evaluate competitive samples, complaint samples, productions samples, and samples submitted from other Company locations.
20. Perform standardized baking tests to evaluate new ingredients, new treatment levels, and new product lines.
21. Provide technical assistance to all production functions related to our process.
22. Assist in all customer communications and problem solving activities including analysis, information, and facility visits as they become necessary.
23. Perform other task assigned by Quality Assurance Manager or designate.

EXPERIENCE/EDUCATION
Some experience working in laboratory environment desired (food industry a plus). BS in a scientific discipline is preferred but not required.
This position will work Monday – Friday from 3:00 pm – 11:30 pm with occasional overtime per production and special project needs.
***Training will be on first shift during the day (7am - 3pm) for the first couple months.
