Job Summary
The Senior Cloud Engineer will be responsible for driving DevOps automation, Infrastructure as Code (IaC), and cloud-native solutions within Azure. This role will focus on codifying infrastructure, CI/CD, security, and governance to create scalable, resilient, and efficient cloud environments. The engineer will lead automation initiatives, enforce GitOps practices, and enhance platform reliability through code-driven solutions. They will collaborate with development, security, and operations teams to streamline cloud-native architectures, improve deployment automation, and establish best practices for DevOps automation. The ideal candidate has deep expertise in cloud automation, strong programming and scripting skills, and a passion for optimizing cloud operations through automation.

Job Responsibilities

Develop and maintain Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, Bicep) to automate provisioning and configuration of Azure cloud resources.
Design and optimize CI/CD pipelines in Azure DevOps, enabling fully automated deployments and continuous integration.
Implement GitOps practices to enforce consistency and version control for infrastructure and applications.
Automate security and compliance enforcement using Policy as Code (OPA, Sentinel, Azure Policy).
Integrate Identity as Code and automated security controls to streamline cloud governance and access management.
Serve as a Kubernetes SME, optimizing AKS workloads, implementing GitOps-driven deployments, and automating cluster management for scalability, security, and resilience.
Implement Logging as Code and Monitoring as Code solutions using OpenTelemetry, Prometheus, or similar tools.
Enhance configuration management using Ansible, Chef, or Puppet to improve consistency across environments.
Troubleshoot and optimize system performance, reliability, and security through automation-driven strategies.
Mentor junior engineers and advocate for DevOps best practices across teams.

External Basic Qualifications

Bachelor's degree and at least 4 years of experience in Engineering, Software Engineering or similar field OR a High School Diploma/GED and at least 7 years of experience in Engineering, Software Engineering or related field
Experience writing code for moderate to complex online applications, microservices or mobile applications or deployment automation
Experience with programming languages for online applications, microservices or mobile applications or deployment automation
Experience designing/building moderately complex applications
Experience writing automated test scripts
Experience creating coding/scripting solutions to fix complex problems/issues
Experience engaging and the executive level
At least 2 years of experience contributing to financial decisions in the workplace.
At least 2 years of direct leadership, indirect leadership and/or cross-functional team leadership.
Willing to travel up to/at least 10% of the time for business purposes (within state and out of state).

Preferred Qualifications

Preferred Qualifications
10+ years of experience in DevOps, Cloud Automation, or Platform Engineering, with a focus on Azure.
Expertise in Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, Bicep) and Configuration as Code (Ansible, Chef, Puppet).
Strong experience with CI/CD pipeline automation using Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions, or Jenkins.
Hands-on experience implementing GitOps methodologies for infrastructure and application management.
Proficiency in scripting and automation using Python, PowerShell, or Bash.
Deep understanding of Policy as Code, Security as Code, and automated compliance enforcement.
Hands-on experience with Kubernetes (AKS) automation, Helm, and containerized workloads.
Knowledge of Networking as Code and cloud security best practices.
Experience with monitoring and observability tools (Prometheus, Grafana, ELK, OpenTelemetry).
Passion for automation, efficiency, and reducing manual operational tasks through code-driven solutions.
