Job Description:
Apex Systems is seeking a highly skilled Network/Systems Engineer with expertise in network monitoring and automation to join our team. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with OPS Ramp and a strong background in network automation, Azure, and AWS. This role involves setting up and managing network monitoring tools, configuring alerts, and collaborating with network engineers to ensure seamless operations.
Overview:
Job Title: Network Engineer, Systems Engineer
Job Type: Full-Time, W2, Long Term Contract 18+ months
Location: 100 International Drive, Baltimore, MD (hybrid)
Compensation: $50 - $57.50/hr (rate dependent upon experience)
Shift/Schedule: EST core hours
Key Responsibilities:
- Enhance existing network monitoring platforms through automation.
- Set up initial monitoring of new connections and systems and automate repeated daily tasks.
- Create and maintain integrations between monitoring and ticketing systems.
- Assist other Network Services teams by detecting small problems before they lead to an outage.
- Create robust alerting that provides Network Engineers with information they need to solve problems more efficiently.
- Write scripts that automate the correction of conditions with repeatable solutions.
- Build dashboards for Network Monitoring that enable better visualization of current network status.
- Monitor voice quality across various network segments.
- Maintain detailed procedural documentation.
- Detect degraded conditions across the network by checking link quality, bandwidth usage, CPU utilization, faults, logs, etc.
- Set up and manage OPS Ramp for network monitoring.
- Collaborate with network engineers to integrate new network devices into the monitoring system.
- Provide technical support and guidance to the network team.
- Participate in group chats and team meetings to address network issues and share updates.
- Support cloud network operations with Azure and AWS.
Mandatory Skills:
- 2-5+ years of network monitoring experience.
- Strong network automation experience and cloud monitoring for network.
- Experience with network monitoring tools such as OPS Ramp, SolarWinds, ScienceLogic, and LiveAction.
- Technical knowledge in the following areas: Network routing and switching, VoIP, Wide Area Networks, SD-WAN, Network Security, Cloud platforms.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Experience with Artificial Intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML) as used to monitor networks.
- Ability to track, manage, and ensure project tasks are completed in a timely manner.
- Experience configuring routers and switches for Netflow and SNMP data collection.
- Preferred certification/training: CCNA, Any Network Monitoring Certified Professional.
- Ability to prioritize multiple simultaneous projects.
